How to make a Flat White

Silky smooth Flat White

How to make a Flat White??? A Flat White is a single Espresso, 30ml (1 oz.) of black coffee with hot, unfoamed milk added. It is served in a regular ceramic coffee cup or coffee mug, not a dematisse cup or glass.

Steps for making a Flat White using an Espresso machine:

1. Grab your favourite freshly roasted coffee beans. Oily-looking is the choice bean here. Looking for dark roasted or espresso beans?

2. You will want to grind these coffee beans until they are very fine.

3. Pack the grinds into the group (handle) of the espresso machine.

4. Place your cup/s under the group. Turned on your espresso machine. You should see a hazel brown crema appear at the surface of the coffee when its finished.

5. Heat the milk using your steaming wand (do not foam).

6. Add the heated milk into the coffee.

The result should be a smooth lightly textured, warm brown colored coffee. There should be depth to any milk foam, although a very thin layer on to top of the coffee is acceptable. But no latte patterns.

Now all you have to do is enjoy your simple and smooth Flat White!!!
