Ethiopia Kaffa Forest Review
Ethiopia Kaffa Forest reviewed by community reviewer, Bob Southard, E-mail withheld.
Aroma: Acidic, but pleasant, with an almost wild note of fruit and nuts
Flavor: Deep, toasty notes of vanilla and banana-like crispness. Could even detect some chocolate. Rich mouthfeel and rewardingly long aftertaste.
Acidity: Pronounced, but not overpowering. Good balance.
Body: medium body but with solid crispy tang.
Finish: Long and luxurious.
General Comment: This was a huge surprise. I have long enjoyed beans from Ethiopia, but this comes from the Kefa Province, supposedly the birthplace of arabica beans. Many of these beans are still grown uncultivated and processed by hand. You can almost taste that wildness in the cup but it incredibly rewarding. I purchased both green beans and roasted myself to various stages and also has Miguel Meza roast some up to medium/medium dark for me. All were tremendous but Miguel is the Maestro when it comes to micro-lots of micro beans. Must try! Obtained from Paradise Roasters.
Bob.
